july, july!

I always have mixed emotions when July rolls around, it feels like summer is almost over and makes me feel that much closer to September when god awful school would start. A little dramatic yes? But it would make me feel like the glass was not half full then and it’s no different now. Going to public school really messed with my brain and makes me feel like I have to quickly get in all the summer activities I want to do, all the trips I want to go on and for Storyland Vintage, all the item photos because sunlight isn’t as cooperative the rest of the year. I would probably be more relaxed in California…someday.
give coldwater canyon back to the coyotes.

My favorite part of my trip besides the general excitement everyday of being in California was getting to do studio tours. My favorite was the Warner Brothers one but I also went on the Universal Studios studio lot tour which was more of a cheesey ride in the theme park instead of an actual tour but I enjoyed it anyway.
those hollywood kids, those hollywood kids got it made.

This past year I’ve adapted the “why not?” mentality and this was no exception during my trip to California. There are of course things in life to be fearful of, but taking a chance of looking stupid is one thing no one should be scared to do. We are only on this earth for a short time, might as well spend that time living the life you want to live. Why not sip a all-you-can-drink “strawberry mimosa” at 1pm on a weekday at the famous Saddle Ranch on Sunset Boulevard?!
hollywood and VINE!

(Whenever I hear or say Hollywood & Vine in my head I hear Marilyn Monroe saying it as she did in my favorite movie of hers, Bus Stop)
One day during my California spent was spent looking at the Hollywood Walk-of-Fame. I think it’s incredibly silly and I would rather actually go about seeing a celebrity in person than look at a dumb star in the sidewalk but you kinda gotta do it at least once in your life, right? Right!
california sunshine come on and wake me up.

Recently I took a week long trip to sunny California! It’s the second time I’ve been there but this time it was more of a pleasure trip with my parents to meet this little guy…
time is coming, it’s coming soon.

Hey there, how are you doing? I’ve been great, keeping busy and I’ve been seeing a lot of live music lately which makes meg a happy girl. But since it is JUDGEMENT doom DAY and all I figured I’d do some confessions for ya’ll on this festive day.
b-b-b-babyface now what you gonna do.

It’s almost that time of the year again, the weather get’s warmer and my schedule and calendar is just filling up so fast. It’s kind of annoying, I wish we didn’t have to schedule and compartmentalize our lives so much but I am excited regardless.
painted faces and painted horses.

I really only purchased this shirt because there are carousels on it. I have my fashion priorities, anything related to amusement parks is a go for me.

Movies like State Fair really make me wonder if romance is dead in modern times. Vintage movies make me feel so lovely while watching them but then afterward I feel like a hopeless romantic because it just feels so hopeless to think that in this day an age a man would propose to you only days after knowing you or even be remotely romantic on a date. Most women would probably think a man was crazy if he did that nowadays, I know I would it’s just not what happens anymore. When Margy and Pat sit down to talk over cokes, I think back to all the dates I’ve been on when a guy stops a conversation to answer his cell phone or sent text messages. In the words of Stephanie Tanner, HOW RUDE! And all Pat wants to do in that moment in time is get to know Margy and spend time with her. I’d like to think romance isn’t dead because I think it’s extremely important especially in serious relationships and marriage and I know I appreciate the romantic and creative things guys have done for me in the past. Unfortunately things just seem to become increasingly unromantic as technology progresses and it’s sad, the more old movies I watch the more I wish there was a time machine.

saint patricks.

St. Patricks day was spent seeing Miss Kathy Griffin on Broadway with my mama. She put on a fantastic show and I had seen her live before but this time she just seemed to really let loose. She told stories about things that happened to her the night before and that had happened while she was in NY which was some of my favorite parts of the show. My mom and I sat in the first center row of the balcony(hello less expensive seats!) and I was just in awe of the beauty of the Belasco theater. There were painted angels on the walls and I felt closer to god because we were so high up and the painted angels, and then I look down and there was Kathy cursing her mouth off as always. Now if that isn’t holy I don’t know what is;) Afterward, I had to use the ladies room and even that was gorgeous. By the time I got out of there most people had left, but as we walked down stairs I noticed there was 100 or so people still sitting in front of the stage and Kathy came out and did some Q&A questions which we were invited to stay for. We got to hear her joke off-the-cuff and answer questions from the audience and Tiffany even came out to help her at one point. She does exist! Someone asked her about what happened to Life on the D-List, but she didn’t respond. The following day I watched a new comedy special of hers on DVR that played on Bravo when I was at her show and while a few of the jokes were the same, she was 100% more animate for NY than Milwaukee. It was definitely the best St. Patrick’s day I’ve ever had. ♥
